You know, mama just loves the information given her by our garden guru who lives next door and who ‘farms’ that great garden upon which I gaze daily.  Here’s another photo just so you remember it from other blogs.

Not shabby, eh?  But right now it looks like this, being prepped for all the root vegetables that Jean will plant as the full moon wanes.  And at the last of the full moon, when the moon is veille, when the moon looks like a new moon but isn’t, he will plant the seeds for those vegetables that flower.

Mama just loves all this wisdom from gardeners she has known who plant by the elements or specific holidays or moon wanings or sea changes or wind directions and believes it all works, even if a bit magical.  But it was trial and error when the first humans starting agriculture without charts or almanacs or knowing what the heck they were doing and so all of that wisdom has come to mama from long ago, honed and edited by recent gardeners.

And I am totally convinced that if you plant root vegetables when the moon has just become full, it will get mama out in the garden, maybe even at night with the actual moon shining down on her efforts and then maybe, just maybe, that hunky black kitty will be slinking around wanting to say howdy…

Moon’s still full.

Hmmm…maybe tonight’s the night. Mama, get out your sprouted garlic and seed potatoes.  We’re hitting the dirt right after MY dinner!

Hey, I’m waiting here on Annapurna for my kibble.  Do you want to get those garlics in the ground or not?
