There’s a vole in there!!

But I only played with it and then let it go. I even walked it outside, back to the garden.

Well, actually, mama walked it outside after putting a Tupperware over it and sliding a cardboard under the Tupperware while that little creature ran in circles on the cardboard as it wondered where the heck it was going to end up.  But boy, those little creatures are CUTE.  Even a ferocious kitty would have trouble laying a paw on one of them.

Is he cute or WHAT?
So I’m going to stick with lolling about in my new catnip and watching our neighbour, M. Riere, tend his beautiful garden. Do you know what he hung over the fence today? An elegantly arranged flower pot of all the vegetables he has to pull up in order to get the soil ready for spring.  Take a look at this:

Do we have nice neighbors or what?
He told mama that she could slice all the leeks and put them in boiling water for 1 minute, then cold water, and then freeze them for cooking.  Same with the carrots.  The eggs were poached to put on toast for supper after mama and papa had a HUGE lunch party with ossobuco (I got a little morsel in my dish minus the gremolata-chopped parsley, garlic and lemon zest), risotto alla Milanese and mama’s chocolate pecan flourless cake, not to mention the limoncello that caused all the guests to stay until FIVE THIRY!!! There I was, running in and out of the house, trying to avoid all the people trying to pet and cuddle me and they had moved my toilette to the upstairs and so I went up and down looking for that and by the time everyone left, I was bushed!

So that is why this blog is short and sweet and maybe tomorrow I’ll get a break.  It is, after all, a day of REST!
But I guess that little taste of the pecan cake was worth it.  It’s just that I wanted to check my IPad for mama so that she’d know what to take to Austin to wear in if-fy weather and when I found the website, I thought, Uh,oh, this looks like WOODSTOCK and everyone is under 20 and I’m not sure mama and papa are going to fit in as well as they thought they would…

I don’t think mama HAS any short shorts and I know papa threw out his tie-dyes several eons ago…
Ah, well, I’ll be here getting spoiled by woman who LOVES me and doesn’t go off and LEAVE me all the time.
May their margaritas be warm and their tacos, soggy.

Fie on you, abandoning me yet again…
