Well, I never seem to get a good selfie so I just stuck this in, and Summer Samba, the kitty, is back blogging and had very good advice today about wearing masks.  So that’s why “summer” and  “selfie”,  get it?  Okay, okay, let’s move on…

But here’s the thing.

Mama is boring herself to tears (and probably many others, haha) by daily observation of too many anthros without masks or gloves, even in our FISH MARKET and then making some comment to papa about whomever it is who is maskless and why don’t they understand that it’s to protect OTHERS, not just themselves, etc. etc. etc. but there I go again yakking about it and frankly, I’m boring myself, too!

SO…let’s get into what’s really important around here.  TOMATOES ARE ON THE MARCH…er…VINES!

And speaking of words that rhyme,  you should have seen our neighbor’s harvest of potatoes yesterday.  Mama forgot to take a photo but Jean and his wife, Christine, dug up a gazillion potatoes from a long trench where they had grown and it was pretty impressive.

Potatoes here are about the  most important food, next to crème fraîche, haha.  Hey, steak  frites is a staple on most menus.  Of course, steak and potatoes are pretty much everywhere, right?

So mama, why don’t we have THAT more often?  Ditch the potatoes for me.  Just show me the beef!

PS–Mama’s quick summer potato recipe:  Slice and boil potatoes in salted water. Drain and in a mixing bowl, mash coarse with fresh basil, olive oil, lemon juice, fresh black pepper and eat tepid. Don’t mash too much, a heavy wire whisk does  a neat  job. You can also add chopped green onions, a spoon of mayo and make these into a warm salad.
