Today I have my claws out!!!

I read over mama’s shoulder in the Independent, our little but wonderful newspaper, that in Paris, 300,000 (some papers say 1,000,000! Can you believe it?) were in the street protesting gay marriage, same-sex marriage, whatever one wishes to call it, and I am FURIOUS, especially the FUR part! My hairs are standing straight up and my ears are back and I’m ready to pounce on each and every protestor in the streets of that great city.
Now I wonder just how great it is.
The photograph in our local paper was, to me, a photograph of fear, nothing less. And I, a tiny little insignificant kitty, can do nothing except myow (I know, I know, it’s me-ow, but I like myow—just pronounce both of them and you’ll see which one sounds more kitty-like) all day in my own protest against such ignorance, such medieval thinking and I can only howl against injustice, any injustice, but especially this one. Thank heaven the United States has the eloquent, open-minded and gracious Barack Obama to lead them. Would that the French acquire such a leader
Although in fairness to Hollande, his government is attempting to have acceptance of gay rights to France, so I should say, would that more of the French were such leaders.

You never know who is gay, after all. And I’ll bet there are many, many of those people in the streets who are closeted with their fear. How sad.

There’s no accountin’ for folks, as mama says, because she’s from the south, a Texas woman actually, one of the ones who got out, thank heaven for me or I wouldn’t have someone cuddling up to me every night and letting me sleep between her knees and pull her hair in the morning when I’m hungry and no one to play Pounce-On-the-Curtain-Cord with, which is my favorite String Game (even if a bit simple-minded, but it’s good for my waistline), but I need to hone my pouncing skills daily, just in case there is something to pounce on one day. And it looks as if that day is here. But one million people — it’s going to take some time….
