Plat du Jour Pour Les Poulets

So where’s MY MENU???

Well, mama has gone completely around the bend.  Our kind neighbor who moved away still has his garden and his chickens living there, and he comes over to feed them and tend the garden and he told  mama that she could throw things over our fence for them to eat.

“They eat salad, leftovers, anything but bread,” he said.  And mama has been throwing odds and ends tidbits to them for a couple of weeks now.  And, as I mentioned in another blog, those chickies are CUTE and mama  seems to be more and more involved with their cutetude.  Instead of MINE

She  has even written them a MENU for what they were served today:

Entrée

Taco chips chapelures—crocantes, natures (crushed, crisp, unflavored)

Plat du jour

Spaghettis avec petites palourdes et coques)  garnis de coriandre (leftover spaghetti with clams and cilantro)

Dessert

Peau de kiwi, haché (the skins of mama’s and papa’s lunch kiwi, the thin-skinned kind, the skins of which are edible, chopped up with scissors–lordy, lordy, she’s cutting up the FOOD for grown-up chickens!)

Now, I ask you, has she EVER given me a menu for my day’s repas?

NO WAY, JOSE.

Mama, I want a menu for every day from now on, you hear?

(Shouldn’t be difficult – I eat the  same things every day, haha, and we have a copy machine.)

At least she gave me the good china…but my water bowl could have matched! What a resto!! (restaurant in French slang)

As long as she doesn’t give those chickens your food, Loulou. Let them eat leftovers.

Your mama feeds everyone. You just have to share her, her culinary skills, and her menus. But at least you don’t have to share her at the end of the day. You live there.

Well, at least your momma hasn’t adopted those chickens and brought them over into your yard, ’cause if she did you’d have to take some drastic measures. Chicken dinner would look nicely served on a blue-and-white dish. Tee hee hee.

I’m sure the abandoned chickens appreciate the service!
