The paws that refresh….
*****
Except mama is helping me in the afternoon, not the morn, and we tried for the morning, really we did, but things got in the way as they often do.
Still, here is our positive thought for the week:
The Temporary Nature of Executive Orders: While President Trump has aggressively utilized executive orders to alter federal policy—ranging from energy grid emergencies to trade and education overhauls—any subsequent president can instantly revoke these orders with the stroke of a pen.
Oh, pray, pray…..!
Let’s make that happen!!! And get your vote in asap for November’s election. It’s time to get strong and serious and powerful against these criminals.
But on a lighter note to start the week….onions from our neighbor’s garden, to be sliced thin and caramelized in a hot oven, or made into French onion soup, or chopped into egg and other salads, or simply sautéed in many dishes. And they will last through the fall if stored in pantyhose!

Isn’t it amazing how pantyhose can keep onions fresh.
Executive orders done, then undone with the next administration, then done again with the next, it makes me tired.
ME,TOO…AND ALL OF IT GIBBERISH AND POPPY COCK!
People here have been requesting that radio stations play “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.” I thought “But it’s not even November!” and then remembered…”And farther below, Lake ONTARIO…”
HAHA, yes very appropriate…can you believe this arrogant sob….? But let’s hear it for Canada’s hero!!!!
Sad thing is we have to live with those EOs and the fallout of them until they are revoked.
Our patience is very used up right now!!!
Has he not issued more EO’s [stupid, foolish ones] than any other president ever … most immediately having lawsuits filed against them.
A Republican yesterday named names of members of the government who were on the Epstein list. A courageous man, and also innocent, I’m sure of being on the list. But he had courage to speak. A REPUBLICAN.
A YOUNG Republican. All rich and famous people of a certain age would have been on Epstein’s list–of people he wanted to be able to claim as friends–whether or not they were. Congressman Massie was born at the right time not to interest Epstein in any way.
I like him, though. He IS brave. His Glyphosate Awareness rating is A1. An ex-girlfriend whined that he was rough in bed, but also that he was the one she called to help when another ex-boyfriend really was the abusive stalker. Ex got publicity because Massie stood up to Trump when Trump disappointed all those of us who saw him as the lesser of the available evils. I don’t always agree with Massie either, but full marks for fortitude!
HEAR HEAR…at least one brave man against the horror in Washington. A TRIUMPHAL ARCH?????? ARE WE OUT OF OUR MINDS TO ALLOW THIS? AND A BALLROOM????? WHEN HE HAS NO BALLS TO FILL IT…
Yum onions are so versatile, Loulou. And oh my word your paw pic is too precious.
Merci, Ms Militza, mama did have a soft spot for their litte curves.
We grow Patterson onions. They are long keepers. I just used the last one from last fall’s crop. We keep them in a mini fridge in the basement. XO
WOW, never heard of them. These are Toulouge pink onions but we used to get Vidalia in LA and now mama gets sweet Cevennes or Apicus from Spain. Will look up Patterson, merci.
Fresh onions are great!
Brian’s Home ~ Forever
And oh, that soup…
We will continue our pirrayers. Interesting use of pantyhose too !
When papa asked mama for hers, she was…uh…wondering just what was going on….
Yummy onions!! I don’t have a recipe, but my mother used to make a concoction called ‘Hachee’ and it started with a lot fried onions, then beef chunks, served over mashed potatoes. Stick to your ribs fare in the winter.
Love your pawsies and tootsies, Loulou!
Mama’s mama made that too, just called ‘hash’. Leftover beef all cut up with onions and sautéed and served with mashed taters…
I think of hash as made with little squares of potatoes, especially as cut by a device with crisscrossed blades that forms hashmarks, or extended hashmarks…but taters is taters!
(We didn’t have the special chopper but Mother and I used to cut potatoes maybe 1cm x 1cm x 2mm and fry them, all by themselves.)
We used to tie old nylons over some vegetables if insects wouldn’t leave them alone. Les epis de mais, et les tomates…
Donc, mama’s mama did not have a machine for cutting and was a gourmet cook all her incredible cooking life, but hash was hash–a leftover dish that sonetimes, in the south, had a fried egg on top, too! To mama, it definitey tasted like leftover beef and potatoes although it was nice and crispy on the outside, therefore tolerable. Not much meat in this house now, prosciutto, yes, because it is not cured with fake stuff, only salt, and the occasional sausage for papa…..with polenta, num num. Love your info on your foods and cooking!!!
