Drink LOTS of water

No, no these aren’t photos today. I’m talking about that lady who showed up here this morning and stuck mama and papa with a long pointy thing that my vet uses sometimes when she gives me my vaccine each year.

Now there are many people who believe that vaccines GIVE you the disease, but that is simply not true. There are hundreds of online sites with info about this, but if you believe that vaccines are bad, then it’s pretty hard to change your mind, even with education about them.

Still, I’m getting mine, and mama and papa got stuck, and if you were here looking out at the incredibly miserable weather we are having, you might want to get stuck, too.

All the same advice holds for winter: Drink water, lots of it. Don’t drink too much alcohol because it lowers the immune system, always. Take Vit D, which is evidently a very good helper against colds. Use a nasal wash daily. Wash your hands often and don’t touch your face if you have been near cold germs. They usually find their way in through the nose (and mouth) first. At the first “tickle”, gargle with vinegar, diluted with a little water. Cold germs HATE vinegar, especially if it is 167 years old, haha. Zicam actually professes to shorten a cold by several days, and mama thinks it does work, or at least the incantations she murmurs to the gods whilst spraying the inside of her mouth with Zicam seems to help!

And eat lots of greens. That’s how the Italians get through winter–kale, beet tops, spinach, Swiss chard, lettuce, chicory, and more.

In the end, if you do everything you can to keep healthy, at least you’ll feel you did your part when you get zapped with one of those nasty things! Then go to bed and read and drink water and visualize whirled peas. Er…I mean visualize a healthy you and sleep with kitties near.

That always works.

Okay, doggies, too.
