Does this ever happen to you, oh, kitty lovers around the world? My mama starts callling, “Loulou, Loulou, where are you?” and then I hear her running around like a crazed weasel talking to herself and then papa and calling up to him in his aerie, “Have you seen Loulou? Is she up there?” and when I’m not up there, she calls again, “Loulou, Loulou, Loulou” and sort of sings it (actually rather nice to hear one’s name over and over and over in musical notes) and then I see her rush out into the garden and the next thing you know, she’s rattling around under the spigariello where I love to snooze and when she doesn’t find me, she runs over to the yellow bush (I don’t know what it is but I love to daydream under its low branches) and lifts up all the low foliage and of course, I’m not there, and then she panics for real and runs up and down the stairs and looks under their bed where I love to loll, especially when they are talking vet-talk because I can get way under the bed in the middle of it and they have to get me out with a broom handle, and she gets down on her hands and knees and looks on that comfortable soft Ikea storage bag where I have made a dent and I’m not there, naturally, and then she opens her studio, thinking I might have sneaked into the atelier when she was painting and no, no, I’m NOT there because I can’t walk through doors and all the doors were fast shut today, so then she REALLY panics and goes outside the front door and calls and calls, thinking I might have escaped somehow into the wilds of our little village (I have absolutely NO desire to leave this place so that’s crazy as a hoot owl behavior) and when she is at the peak of panic and comes back in the house, guess what?

There I am in plain sight, stretched out on the couch as comfortable as you please listening to all this foolishness and chuckling to myself and thinking, “Mama, I’m here; I love it here and I’m not going anywhere but I see that you really esteem and love me or you wouldn’t turn into a whirling dervish when you can’t see me RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR EYES!”

So, kitty lovers, does this ever happen in your family?

Humans are so weird…
