You know, for a kitty who rarely has a bad hair day, advice on how to keep your hair and how to make it shiny and what to eat for healthy hair just is not on my reading list. But mama is lamenting her lack of shine when all these years her hair was really bright and shiny and now she’s eating more eggs to see if that will help.  It does with doggies, and horses…

Maybe it’s a bit of stress, too, because her brother is not well, but as recently as yesterday he began perking up and having conversations with family and was able to go back to walking with a cane or a walker instead of using a wheel chair.

So that will help, too.

But if any of you kitties out there have solutions for keeping your pelts nice, mama would love to hear about them. The other day there was this weird smell coming out of the shower and I realized that mama was rinsing her hair with vinegar, the way her grandmother used to do and her granny had hair down to her waist (henna red!) and was a pretty hot nonna, from what I hear. She used to greet mama’s mama’s boyfriends at the door when they came to pick her up and take them into the “parlor” to entertain them on the piano, singing “Who threw the overalls in Mrs. Murphy’s chowder?” Things like that, haha!

And then they wanted to stay and hang out with mama’s mama instead of going on the date—oh, yes, she was something else. But she did have good advice, as in vinegar for the hair, lemon juice in warm water each morning for her complexion, mustard plasters on the chest for colds (HORRIBLE, mama says) and a little sip of sherry “for my nerves”….

So I think mama will take the vinegar route for a while. I’ve heard of shampoo build-up on TV, but I change the station when strange things like that come on and watch soccer matches instead. And what does a kitty like me with a coat like mine NEED with all these remedies, I ask you?

And this is my BAD hair day, haha…

That said, any advice is welcome, mama says.
