EUREKA!!!!

Boy, just imagine—you’re lying in bed, in that funny state between wakefulness and sleep and all of a sudden, bammo!!! An idea springs from nowhere that is going to change the fate of some babies everywhere, especially in poor countries where there might be a shortage of doctors.

Jorge Odón, a 59-year-old car mechanic, woke up with the idea after having seen a UTube demonstration which showed how to get a cork that had fallen into its wine bottle to come out with an inflated plastic bag!

Mama tells me not to play with plastic bags or at least not the ones that are big enough to cover little me, but I know that my claws would save me if I got caught. A plastic bag, in this case, can save a baby’s life by aiding the baby to come out of the birth canal easily without forceps or suction cups that could cause complications.

“The device, which has been endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO), involves slipping a plastic bag around the infant’s head, inflating the bag, and then pulling until the baby emerges from the birth canal.” (Fox news)

The device has the potential to reduce rates of cesarean sections in wealthy nations, as well as decrease infant and maternal mortality rates in poorer countries, according to the New York Times.

I wonder if it would work for kitties? Sometimes mama kitties have a hard time of it, especially when six or seven little ones are coming out.  Hmmm…wonder how that would function?

Well, things like this make me so happy. I read so many unpleasant pieces of news lately that this one was really sweet and I took the paper immediately to mama so that she could smile, too. I know, I know, only doggies take papers to their masters.

Well, for one thing, mama is NOT my master and never will be—everyone knows that about us kitties.

And guess what?

I can bring slippers, too…

If I feel like it.
