Danke, Germany, for opening your doors and hearts to so many for whom doors were closed and hearts were hard.

Danke, Germany, for finding jobs for those who have no alternative in their lives but to seek safety outside of their countries.

Danke, Germany for  greeting the immigrants with Ode to Joy and joy itself for so many whose hopes were strengthened by Beethoven’s music.

Would that other countries could care for those who are seeking asylum and protection from leaders whose only thoughts are for themselves and for harming and maiming and impoverishing the people they rule.

Shame on the countries whose inhabitants must fight so staunchly to be rid of lives that can lead only to death or poverty and must flee to other countries in hopes of living normal lives with their families.

Shame on the countries who separate families in desperation.

Shame on rulers whose only thoughts and actions are spurred by greed and avarice.

Danke, Germany, for setting an example for those who shut their doors to immigration and desperation.

If a kitty wandered in here, scrawny and starving, I know I could get along with him/her.  It might take time, but we would both benefit from the encounter, I’m sure of that.

If I can touch noses with a doggy, a kitty would be a piece of cake.
