Well, mama did not find the penqguins’ lament at the zoo after their loss, but we did find this.
There is one penguin in the group singing with his head and beak raised that perhaps is like the Sphen’s mate mourning his death. In fact, mama hears the group singing similar songs, almost like repeating their sounds of one another to each other. Wish we knew more…

The Penguin choir practice may not sound very musical to us but to penguins I’m sure it’s “music to their ears” (do they have ears?). The penguin community is like any other animal or human community in that everyone mourns the loss of “one of their own” just as they celebrate a birth into the group with a song. OH, we LOVE whale music, haunting, lovely, intelligent. And the whale that called to the fishermen to save one of his family, that was incredibe.
