Soldiers Up

Dec 18, 2023 | 16 comments

(View his soldiers online, if you wish.)

Well, these holidays are bringing memories of other, calmer times. So our spark today is to remember loved ones who are not here, one of whom is mama’s brother who from the age of 14 began making lead soldiers and tableaux of things like Hannibal Crossing The Alps and so much more, and each Christmas mama puts his amazing ornaments out to remind us of his talents and his life as an army man. With the side business of Potsdamer Zinnsoldaten.

Christmas stimulates so many memories of past years and places and people too far away that we miss oh so much every day.

Still, so many new friends in various parts of the planet are celebrating their holidays with us, in gmails and blogs and WhatsApps and…even the actual TELEPHONES!

Remember those, haha?

So we sparkle as we think of you, dear readers and family and friends, who are in the here and now to make these holidays so much more bearable in our troubled times.

And remember: home is always where the tummy is.

Yes, I couldn’t access your given link, so I went to see Mr Google and wow, what amazing work.am=nd all so sadly being auctioned off…
I collect ‘tambours’, and have over 300, and some of them are like your brother’s work. Little tin statues.
So precious that you have the ones you do, and now they represent your brother to you, and all the wonderful memories you made with him.

Here is a link in my blog where you can see some of them, the little ones are in an enclosed cabinet.

LOve your tummy quote, LouLou!

Your brother was a very talented guy….those figures are amazing and I’m certain you are very proud of all he accomplished in his life. Christmas is for memories – today is my Mom’s birthday – the traditional day in my family when I was a child when we would go out and find the perfect Christmas tree to decorate. She would be 107 today! Would LOVE to see the 1930s dollhouse – old things are new again at Christmas aren’t they.

Hugs, Pam

We love the miniature things that people put out at Christmas time, like Teddy’s train under the tree, miniature villages, and so on. Thanks for sharing these ornaments !
