Strung Out

That’s my string (well, one of them). Get it? String Game?

Well, I’ve sort of been wondering if I’m normal.

Now, mama says to not have self-doubt and to think of all the things you can do rather than all the things you can’t do, but I’m wondering if any kitties out there have, let us say, low affect, about playing?

When I was first a member of this household, I didn’t have any idea how to play with anything, much less chase a ball or bat at a string or even a nip mouse on a string (!) and I’ve graduated to playing chase on the big bed upstairs with a braided raffia thing-y

that mama made for that purpose, but that’s all I really play with.  I don’t fight with my mouse, I don’t go in and out of grocery bags left on the floor to explore, I don’t climb around much except on my Annapurna rock to get my breakfast, and I’m kinda worried about my state of mind.  I mean, is this normal for a kitty, to be an observer of the world (in between naps, that is) because I DO dream and twitch and have some pretty amazing dreams, it seems, but I only want to play in the morning on any head I can find or do some triple jumps over prone sleeping bodies and then I’ll mess around with the String Game until I’m too hungry to continue and then I’m outta there.

So am I normal?  Maybe I should see a kitty shrink…

Or maybe I just like deep thinking instead of action.

Yeah, that’s probably it.

Oh, I forgot, that when the anthros go up to get read for bed, I DO play the String Game again, but this time I run behind the curtains and hide and jump out at mama, scaring the bejesus out of her as I do when she thinks I’m gone but I’m under the bed and leap up on the covers to grab my string, but I’m pretty tired of this after about 15 minutes and just want her to lie down so I can sack out on her covers.  Am I normal?

Actually, I’m having some action here; you can tell by the back paw.

Kitties play, don’t they?  I mean, longer than 15 minutes?

Well, I was just wondering…

Naps always take precedence over exercise.  I think some anthros feel that way too, right?

Maybe I just need a new string.

You’re normal, Loulou…we don’t usually play for long either. We’d much rather nap.

Naps are mandatory! No self-respecting cat would miss naps. Playing in between for a discreet time is good. It will help keep your girlish figure and your mom’s too (since you keep scaring her). So, you are quite normal, Loulou.

You sound like a normal kitty to me. Play hard then nap for a long time.
