A young trio…

All grown up!

Well,, last night I was sleeping peacefully when papa changed the soccer station to another Italian program and it was all about the music festival at San Remo where mama was eons ago in another life and I have to say, I woke straight up out of sleep and was enchanted by three young men in a group called Il Volo singing their hearts out with the song that won them the Grand Prize at San Remo this year.

Mama wrote papa’s ex-wife, whom she loves and esteems, asking her if she knows about these kids and she said, “Oh, I heard them as young children singing together” so evidently they have been warbling a long time, or at least a decade or so.

Well, mama was knocked off her chair when she heard them and I’m sure you know the three tenors, the older men, who sang in Rome at the Baths of Caracalla in 1990 and were such a hit and the three of them became famous as three in addition to being famous each in his own right—Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and José Carreras—and mama says that these three young men remind her of them, except much, much younger and a bit retro with their big glasses and pompadours, but utterly modern, too, each one. And they seem to like one another so much!

They are so, so charming…I think we have another sort of Beatles’ group on our hands except Italian kids. Well, they made mama and papa very, very happy after “House of Cards”, which is not exactly up to its old snuff, in my view.

I used to watch it with great pleasure, but now, it seems to have lost something, some pizzazz, and I wish there were more “Downton Abbey” or at least “Game of Thrones”, which I know is coming up soon, but I’m impatient for those dragons (even if I did have nightmares and twitched  like crazy in my sleep after every episode).

So now I go to YouTube and hear these kids singing their little Italian hearts out and it makes mine go pitty-pat.

Think I’ll sing along…
