No strings attached for me…
Well, mama has started me on chondroitin powder (Cosequin) in my food, and I actually eat it, but nothing seems to be happening yet with my little front joints. I still shake my front paws when lying down or during a bit of string play, so it’s not that fun to chase strings right now. Even virtually on the IPad, haha.
If you have any arthritis info for kitties, please pass it on. As mama says, “Loulou, we are just not youngsters any more”, but I don’t think 11 is very old for me…I played and ran and jumped on the bed like a gazelle in the past. Sigh.
(Speak for yourself, mama, haha)
BUT…I also can have 3 days of a liquid that is supposed to help and I LOVE the taste. If that doesn’t work, it’s going to be jabbing for me just as it is for you out there. Madame Docteur Vet says she can give me a shot of something that might help temporarily.

My human gives me a few drops of CBD oil everyday. I can now jump on the kitchen table and attack the bread in the bag.

Sadly when we age, just like our hoomans, we get stiff too. I am lucky and so are the family so far. Angel Big Buddy had a touch but he was huge at 20# plus when he came and then when he got to 18# he was spry as anything. Purrs LouLou
WOW. And I think I am moving a bit better…maybe mama could give me some grease for the joints, haha. Like butter! But I do have olive oil every day.

I hope the new medicine helps you, Loulou. Cosequin can take time to work…4-6 weeks before the full effects though some kitties get some relief sooner. ~Ernie

Shame, Loulou, getting old is not fun for anyone. My kitty is 15 and suffers from joint pain. My vet has prescribed GCS joint care Advanced and it seems to work.
Will make a note of that one, too. This one goes down easily so we’ll give it another month or so and then if I need a new one, I’ll try yours. Mama massages me all the time and every time she does it, I turn over on my back to have my tummy rubbed. No arthitis there, haha.
That Cosequin will work – we’ve known lots of kitties who got help with “the achies” that way. It just takes time. Before you know it you’ll be playing string and running around causing all kinds of trouble again (hahahaha).

Oh, Teddy, I am so happy to have this positive information, merci!!! I did play a bit this morning all by myself, which I have not been doing for a few weeks, so maybe it is beginning to loosen me up. Thanks again. Mama says that it’s too bad I can’t have a relaxing glass of vino…..
Angel Pipo used that and MSM also, it helped him feel frisky once again…I can’t remember when he started it, but after a while I noticed he was playing with his toys again and jumping up/down more. He’s only been gone since Nov3,2020…sigh. Almost 16…

Oh, Loulou – I have the same, but the special kibbles and a pill from time to time does the trick! Hoping that new thing works – well, I’m not as nimble as I used to be either. But whatever works!!!!
I think it IS working, Mya. I was boringly cute this morning playing with my toys after so long.
Yes – try to be patient. When I got a cortisone injection in my knee the doctor said it ight take a week – and it did but it did help !
Oh, mama knows those injections. But please look into SYNVISC, one injection each week for three weeks and it lasted, for mama, for 2 years!!! Mama is happy to gmail with you about it. It’s really miraculous for knee troubles. Chondroitin is different from cortisone.
You are still a spring chicken at 11. I hope the cosequin starts to help you. Turmeric is good if your mama can find something for cats with that in it. XO
Oh, thank you, and yes, mama uses turmeric in our anthro foods and yes, it is very good for joints. There is a restaurant in Austin, Texas, that makes all its food with turmeric!
Cosequin worked great for Angel Nellie, but it was about a month before I (the human) noticed any difference. We hope you all have a marvellously Happy Dr Seuss Day!
