Chapter Five — Awakening

Where am I?

Well, today I think I’ll say a little about what I felt when I woke up in a strange house.  The truth is, I felt a bit afraid still and was wary of mama and papa and just how their day would shape up and how I would fit into the plan.  Well, who wouldn’t be?  I had just come in from the wild, after all, from the land of lions and tigers and bears.

Okay, I stretched that a bit.

But you get my drift.  On my first day I walked all over the house, discovering all sorts of places I could pop into should I need to disappear quickly…under the stairs to papa’s office, under any bed I could find, under the sofa on which I had slept so soundly, you get the picture, right?

But for some unknowable reason, I had no inclination to hide away until perhaps they would open a door for me, but maybe that was because the food and service left nothing to be desired and I basked in their affection as I bask in a sun puddle now on my patio.  Of course sun puddles would come later as they require complete relaxation, and I was not there yet.

And so my first day passed with no unseemly incident and my little whirring brain calmed itself as I folded up (literally) for the night.

Was this all a dream?

No, no, it was reality times a gazillion (whatever that means).
