Cloud-lounging is just about all I can muster in this heat!
Before the stats, a spark for the week:
Either you run the day, or the day runs you.
Ain’t that the truth!
Well, we had heat in the 30s this morn and the sweet 96-year-old friend, Lilly, whom we take by the sea each week has asked to hold off for awhile. It’s just too hot.
Our piano competition will begin this week and is always really wonderful. Young competing pianists who knock you socks off with their talents!
Mama planted her squash, FINALLY, and we’re waiting to see what a squash bush looks like. It’s supposedly an upright plant that grows like a little tree of squash! I am skeptical, but no one asked what I thought….
Melon and smoked salmon is a nice starter for summer. Mama is not sure she has put her url for Substack in my blog.
She’s doing her third cookbook on Substack and it’s great fun to just let it happen when it does and not follow any rules and not have to worry about what someone may want or not want, and so on. She just thinks up chapters each week and publishes them and voila, there they are. For you!

A cool starter for a light meal…

It’s hot here too, Loulou!
I saw that in your expression Mr Murphy, ha ha.
Yum, this is one of my favourites, Loulou. I have subscribed to your mama’s Substack. So many delicious recipes – what a treat.
Merci, Ms Militza, we love putting out mama’s VAST store of tasty treats for anyone and everyone who wishes them. Thank you for subscribing!
I imagine even at the beach it’s super hot……and I always thought when I lived in Florida that when the water was warm it just wasn’t as “refreshing” as when it was cool! You all stay in the shade – we are doing the same here. We’ll be in the 100s today.
Hugs, Pam
OH NO TEDDY. 100 is way too hot for a kitty. Mama saw a wonderful thing on Instagram. You freeze a water bottle, plastic and wrap it in a nice cloth and put it next to your kitty in the heat. They love it. Or you can put his blankie in the fridge for an hour and then he can nap on a cool blamkie.
It is true, each day needs a bit of a plan. It may not always go exactly that way, but it helps.
Good luck with the cookbook!
At this point anything and everything helps, non?
That is an excellent spark. I am loving your mama’s recipes on Substack. Xo
Oh, merci Ms E and she is loving your nieces and their incredible creativity, thanks to auntie…..
Oh my, I would enjoy the piano competition!
Brian’s Home ~ Forever
Mama will try to record some of it or find the YouTube rendition.
Cool foods for hot days are always welcome !
Oui we cannot seem to get away from panzanella and potato salad ad cool cucumbers and anything COLD.
It’s hot here too. I ate some of moms delicious goodies. What a wonderful combination.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. ♥
MERCI and we LOVE the awwww, Mondays, always but sometimes don’t make it to publishing comments.
Those melon bites look yummy!
It’s hot in the mid thirties here, too…and add in the humidity and its closer to 40. UGH!
Would love to see/hear some videos of that piano competition…
Mama will certainly try to get them on her blog on Friday.
