All I need is a red ribbon in my fur to be dressed for Bastille Day!
Well, today in our little ville we will be celebrating the overthrow of Louis XVI in 1789 and autocratic, egomaniacal, suppressive rule of the lower and middle classes in France who were called “sans culottes”, without underpants. A derogatory name for the peasants and poor classes who were, at the time of the overthrow, starving while the king raked in money from taxation and from cutting off any social services on which he would have to spend to maintain.
Sound familiar?
This is what came of the revolt.
There will be music and celebrations and fireworks in a nearby village (our village has them on August 15) and mama will wear red, white and blue. As for what’s under, that’s a secret, haha.

I hope those fireworks weren’t too loud!
They were in the other village nearby but mama had pics from last year so cheated a bit.
Happy Bastille Day to you and your mama, Loulou. Enjoy the celebrations.
We did have a lovely day but hot hot hot and so did not stay out long. If only the USA would have a Bastille moment….
Some definite parallels! Have a fun celebration! A darling picture of you, Loulou!
If only there were more parallels….
At least someone has something to celebrate!

Oui, there was at least a population who fought for their liberty. Have you seen the farm workers running for their lives in the United States of America?
Hope you had a good time. Nice fireworks. XO
Very quiet evening for mama and papa. A little homemade pizza and they dressed in red, white and blue to go have a drink at the sea. FRENCH colors, but the flag goes crosswise and doesn’t have 50 stars on it, haha.
We enjoyed watching the fireworks in your video LouLou.
Bien, I am so glad you had a few bright moments. We get them when we can…
I was in Paris once on Bastille Day, it was wild and wonderful.
OH OH OH that must have been WONDERFUL The huge parade and fireworks at the Eiffel Tower…wow.
dam, sounds so berry familiar!! altho, his cry wood be, “let them eat Mickey D’s”
Mama just read that over 2,000,000 will have no recourse to food stamps and food, especially children, because of cuts in social services that America has provided for years.
Very familiar, unfortunately. As we wait for our overthrowing …
Heh heh but will it come? Cross fingers.
