Oh, to have a kolache in my paws!

Kolache photo from Foodways mag–thank you.

Well, Czech this out!  Mama, who is a Czech descendant, has a darling niece who sent her this article from Foodways Magazine on kolaches, a sweet roll filled with fruit or poppy seeds that mama’s grandmother used to make all the time.  Such a delicious pastry, and really, so easy to make, mama says.  Of course it would be easier if Bigmama, mama’s grandmama, were here to advise and instruct.

As you might remember, I often help mama in the kitchen when she makes bread (or things with fish, haha) and I happened to be there when the kolache dough was rising so I stuck my little tiny mama-will-never-know-it-happened-paw in the dough and I can see why kid anthros (and adults) eat raw dough.  The dough is sweet and buttery and you can just imagine what it will be like when it is baked all golden and crispy on the edges.

So now mama is on a kolache tear!  More on this later when she gets them up and rising.

Meanwhile, I am off to bed as it is almost midnight here and I think I drooled myself silly looking at these rolls.  Exhausting work.

Me, drooled silly.
