Flowers In Our Little Village

Jun 15, 2016 | 16 comments

Well, after the terrible events in America and in France (I will not go into that one), I thought it best to share with you some lovely plants in our little town and on mama’s wall (the bougainville) and try to bring a little joy and beauty into all of our lives, because I really cannot dwell on these horrors committed by lower-than-beasts and so here they are:

A spectacular something-or-other tree down the street.  Could you enlighten me?

Lovely climbing roses on a neighbor’s wall.

Speaking of walls–one of the many schiste rock walls of our little ville.

image

Honeysuckle and oleander in background along our streets of schiste.  Mama used to suck out the honey when she was little.  Wait a minute, she’s doing it NOW!  And that’s just after putting butter on her fresh radishes from her neighbour (the size of golf balls; the radishes, not the neighbour).

Before the tramontane (wind-there are several with different names!) yesterday; I was wrong, it was NOT from the Sahara but it felt like it.

Naked AFTER the wind!!! Our walkway is a “primrose path”, covered with flowers.

Lavender in full swing.

And best of all, the vineyards getting ready to pop out their raisins (grapes) for our delicious wine of the Rousillon.

And with that, a joyful day to you all, and kind thoughts for so many who have lost their friends, family members and furry family members this last week.

Isn’t kindness supposed to prevail?  Oh, how I hope.

I’m helping mama plant her tomatoes around bamboo tuteurs (supports). Lordy, I work hard…

Thank you for sharing the pictures of the beautful flowers and for working very hard to ease Mama’s work load. You are a good little girl.
I will send you pictures of my little Yorkies(3) when I become computer literate.

Thank you for sharing these beautiful photos. I see a heart shape in the grapevines ( to the left). I am jealous of those radishes, we only had a few and then it got very hot out and they bolted.

Loulou, we certainly hope that as hard as you work, your mama and dad give you benefits, such as a 10 month vacation a year. You deserve it!

Too much bad news, isn’t there!
