Mama’s making pepper paste. This kitty is puttin’ the paws on the paving stones…zzzzzz
At the family reunion, mama’s stepgrandkid, Julian, a vegan, made a fantastic pepper paste to dip in with crackers or toss with pasta or simply spoon into one’s mouth! SO delicious.
3 red sweet peppers, roasted and peeled
1/4 cup olive oil (or enough to bind the sauce to a smooth paste)
1 scant cup walnuts (mama used cashews)
2 cloves garlic, chopped
2 spoons of tomato puree or sauce
1/4 cup bread crumbs
Pinch of chili flakes
1 teaspoon honey (orginal recipe calls for pomegrante molasses but mama didn’t have any)
1 teaspoon sumac (mama didn’t have that either but did have some leaves so used a couple)
Salt to taste
In the top of a food processor, put all the ingredients and pulse until smooth. This is such a good summer dip for so many reasons….

T’s military parade is a sham and a shame. He says it’s for the armed forces but it is NOT, as we all have known for weeks.
Mama and papa are seriously worrying today about the protests all over the USA and Europe against this travesty parade for a tyranical felon/womanizing/very dangerous president who needs to be removed. We are hoping for no violence. We are hoping to restore our democracy, which is disappearing daily.

That pepper paste is addicting….mama thinned it out to put over pasta and it was delish.
That spread sounds delicious! It rained like mad on The T-Man’s “parade” and we felt sorry for all those soldiers who got soaked while SOME PEOPLE were sheltered. Thankfully it was a peaceful night other than the thunder and lightning and rain.

That recipe looks so good, it makes me wish I had a food processor. I don’t cook enough any more to have one, everything gets done by hand.
I wonder if maple syrup would work instead of pomegranate molasses.
YES OUI OUI mama has used that too. Not too much as this paste can get too sweet if the peppers are really good and ripe. LOVE this paste for EVERYTHING. Mama wants to see if it makes a good facial, haha.
