Well, mama and papa were tickled to find that a large ever-changing group of 15 family members and their various partners can really live it up all together for 8 days without any glitches at all and many friendships enhanced and affecting. Sweet moments….
One of the highlights of their adventure was the incredibly beautiful guitar music from their grand nephew, who plays professionally as you might have heard in a recent blog.

Music drifted through the house morning and evening and mama warbled out a Chet Baker “There will never be another you”…
Mama, start humming to get those wobbly vocal chords back in shape. Just sayin’….
And oh, the food!!! Incredible vegan hummus and sweet pepper paste for crackers, a rice salad made by a grandchild that went on for days and got better and better,a niece’s roasted vegetables better than any mama had tasted in her LIFE, also a pesto to pine for (using raw almonds in place of pine nuts), a nephew’s two roasted sea bass with rosemary and lemon that could have been served in any starred restaurant, and an enviable zucchini frittata by the mama of their grandchild who contributed his penne all’amatriciana on the last night.

Papa’s daughter started off he first day with an INCREDIBLE tomato salad….
Who said family reunions could be…uh…not one’s favorite pastime?
It was lovely and warm and lively and memorable.
And now for the re-entry….THAT is much more challenging, haha.
Laundry, garden, mail, meals…summer is here and I’ll be reporting on mama’s garden, which was not exactly what she wanted to see upon return. But all will of course settle out soon, since I’m supervising….

View from the house…

Sounds like the purrfect party…in a most beautiful place!
It was really memorable, despite trepidations about it before it happened, haha..
Sounds to me like you had a culinary feast and how cool that each one had their own offerings to contribute for the long buffet session…oh wait, I imagine you did other things, too, right??!
Well, yes, they went to Cosa, the Roman ruins, which was incredible, they read, NO TV, no one missed it at all until the wipe out of Inter by PSG, the French soccer team but no one missed TV. Lot os music and singing.
It sounds like a reunion to be reminisced over for years to come. I hope everyone shared their recipes.
Well, some did but mama is on the track of the vegan red pepper paste! Julian Modiano is on Instagram and it may be there.
Sounds like an amazing time. The food looks so good. XO
It was really amazing, mama was so tickled to see so many young cooks.
Good music and good food sounds totally purrfect!
Brian’s Home ~ Forever
Well, it was memorable and lovely and needed.
It all sounds so marvelous! I’m glad you had such a good time! Darling pictures of Loulou, too!
Merci, Ms Leah, mama and papa really loved the weeks.
Vacations always require some time to “recover” from, no matter how enjoyable ! We loved the pictures of the family and of you back in your garden ! Thank you for sharing !
Oh, I wish all of you could have been with me looking at the groups having such good times and talkig into the night an the sweet music to temper it all….
Looks like it was a wonderful vacation!
It was, it was, but now mama and papa need a vacation from the vacation, haha.
What beautiful photos and what a wonderful description of a memorable family reunion. My Mom has said to me over and over that it sounds so wonderful to have a big family to be a part of. Neither she nor my Dad had large families and almost no family now. We “live” through you though and it sounds FABULOUS (the food, the sites – everything). Welcome home to all of you – your garden awaits!
Hugs, Pam
Oh, Ms Pam, mama doesn’t have kids and considers her family to be a group of close friends and the one papa brought to her life, ie his ex-wife (!), their two kids and the kids’ kids. So she knows well how it feels to have a sparse family. Let’s put it another way, her family in Texas IS family, but they are not on the same page, if you get my drift…You and sweet bloggers feel more like family than ever. Merci for tha and we’ll be yours anytime!
