Juneteenth Spark

Blurry, but may make the grade for awwww….

Today we celebrate in the USA Juneteenth, the day of emancipation for Blacks who were enslaved up until the declaration by the US government that all were now free and equal on all counts.

Our spark today is from a soul song by William Bell, and the lyrics say,

You don’t miss your water ’til your well runs dry

and we feel those words can be applied to more than lost love, but also to the state of the world right now including the grand drought in France, and in many other countries, that is threatening lives, vineyards, farmers and more. Or lots of other “wells” that give out without proper attention and care, the well of kindness, for example.

I’ll bet there is someplace in your life that the well ran dry without your awareness of it (I hope not!), so I am saying only that to be aware of your riches from nature and family and friends and strangers might help to keep those riches coming…

We also feel that Blacks in America are still not emancipated/equal, on so many levels, but many are trying to rectify that.

It’s a hard row to hoe, especially in those states that are still resisting equality for all on so many levels!

In the US we’re seeing a serious push to reintroduce elitism, or classism, or a serious class system…after all these years working to reduce the meaning of “class,” other than “the set of people taking a course together,” to “a poorly defined quality produced by personal choices that reflect independence and public spirit.”

I like things that are classy…maybe that’s why I don’t like the effort to limit people, regardless of their classiness, to rigid “social classes.”

Dear Loulou your entire post is a SPARK today….lots of celebrations here and sadly as is the “way” these days some had unfortunate moments of violence. We pray one day that will change – sooner rather than later.

Love, Teddy
