THAT DOVE IS DOING WHAT?

Well, I think it’s a she but who knows.  It’s definitely a merle who LOVES having his/her own spa in the ‘hood, haha,

Now here’s the thing you won’t believe.

Mama and I are watching the toilette of the merle – splash, splash, rub-a-dub-dub, beak under water, beak in the air, water, water everywhere, under the wings, under the tummy, it’s getting better and better and oh, so funny!

(I borrowed this wonderful video of a similar merle in a similar bathtub because I can’t seem to get a good video of our birdie without setting up papa’s camera.)

Exit one merle after major clean-up.

And THEN: that (dumb) dawdling dove who has been watching Mr/Ms/Mrs Merle bends over with his little beak and takes a BIG DRINK  out of the spa!!!

Eeeeuuwwwe!

Now I know where “bird-brained” comes from.

(And ‘he-sheba’ doesn’t sound right...)

And hey, no drinking of bath water for those doves in the video, right?  Must have more brain matter than ours.

Mama, do you think we should start a school for doves? They could work toward their BAs…Birdbath Awareness degree, haha.

Around here some birds go “anting” – they find an ant hill and fluff themselves over it. The ants get on them and squirt formic acid and it kills mites and other parasites bugging the bird. I don’t know if they then eat the ants or not.
