Dry Humor

(Now–just WHO is cuter here? Hmmmm…)

You may remember that no-good bum, Sushi, one of mama and papa’s kitties long, long ago, who resembled me but not on your life, honey did I look like that lazy fur-ball—anyway, one day when papa’s kids were visiting Los Angeles, mama  went upstairs to put the clothes in the dryer before lunch and while they were all having their spaghetti al tonno (drool….), they heard this “ka-thump, ka-thump” in a very methodical rythym and mama shrieked, “Oh, god, Sushi was sleeping in the dryer on the clothes!”

And the kids shrieked with mama, jumping up from their chairs, and mama high-tailed it up the stairs and opened the dryer immediately and that dumb Sushi plopped out looking all weewah and stunned with big round silly eyes and of course, completely unstable on her paws and zig-zagged off down the hall. And mama cooed and cajoled over her (as usual—spoiling her rotten!) and said, “Oh, you poor Sushi, you must have been really scared—are you all right?”

Good grief, the dryer was only on Wash and Wear, which means the temperature was very low. That silly kitty was just fine and probably learned a thing or two about sleeping on the clean clothes in the dryer, duh!  What on earth did she have for brains?

I have to say, though, that I saw a photo of that dumb-ass kitty afterward and the whole experience was a great improvement—she was nicely fluff-dried…

Hi Loulou,
Our sweet pea kitty, Binky, lives with us at home but we also take care of many animals at the farm we work on. We have two kitties at the farm, our girl, Sonam & our boy, Norbu. Their Tibetan names mean “the fortunate one” & “precious gem”. My mum had just been to Bhutan so she was in a Himalayan state of mind! She found them under a big log at the farm when they were 5 weeks old! Mum patiently waited all day to see if their mama returned but she didn’t so she scooped them up as she feared that a fox or eagle would make a quick snack of them!, She fed them kitty formula, she & poppy gave them lots of love, and they have gone from 1 pound to their healthy weight of 11 pounds over 4 years later now. Norbu crawled into the back of the dryer vent when he was a wee one. Mum & poppy heard meows when they got to the farm one morning. It turned out that Norbu was twisted up inside the dryer and could not get out!!! Mum told poppy, “Do whatever it takes to get him out & I don’t care if you need to destroy the dryer to do!!!!!”. I will send you a photo of Sonam & Norbu soon. They have a great life on the farm as their life being loose as feral kitties would be pretty grim. They love to hang out with the goats, donkeys, chickens, and the worker bees at Halftide Farms, especially at noon when everyone gathers around the 6 foot table and eat lunch together!
Enjoy the late summer Loulou!

Mommy just read your Mousebreath interview to me, so I had to come and say what an impressive interview it was! And she thinks Sushi is a cute kitty, so pardon her, she’s a little weird.

To be purrfectly honest, I don’t know what Mommy was thinking when she commented about Mousebreath. You obviously haven’t been interviewed yet! Check mouthbreath.com It is an on line magazine for kitties. Jan from Jan’s Funny Farm does interviews once a week.

What pretty little ears Sushi had.

We are horrified by Sushi’s near miss in that dryer. He must have used up at least one life. Lucky little fella. All of those domestic appliance things that apes can’t live without are a menace to we cats. We have a particular loathing of Dysons and the man who invented them.

Yes Loulou, you are very beautiful and it’s ok for other cats to be very beautiful too dear xx
