Hidden Treasure

THEY HID WHAT WHERE?

Well, I don’t know if it’s exactly a ‘treasure’, the item I will talk about, but when a comment came in about mama forgetting where she stashed the Christmas presents, I thought of a funny incident that happened at papa’s ex-father-in-law’s house during the holidays once when trippa alla romana was served for dinner and the dish kept coming around and NO ONE wanted tripe and passed it on to the next person and when the head of the family, who loved it (so there was HUGE bowl of it) finally left the table, someone hid the tripe in a cabinet so as not to have to eat more…and it was forgotten!

For two months or more.  Two months later, someone opened the cabinet and there was the enormous dish of…maggots!

So if you’re planning to hide the beef kibble or the roast chicken pate or the nice raw T-Bone for OUR kitty prezzies, set an alarm, haha.  Mama’s mama tucked a Corsicana Fruit Cake in an out-of-the-way place because everyone gave fruitcakes for holidays and this was one too many!  Mama found it in February in an unused cabinet and it could have been used as a building block for a concrete wall!

Poor fruitcake.  Plus it had shrunk in its lovely decorative can to about half the size.  But mama says that they were very good, fruity fruitcake (even if they weighed a gazillion pounds).

If you like fruitcake, that is.

I thinking I should hide my medicine next time in this pillowcase and it will dissolve in the wash, haha!

Laughing our loud at the tripe fiasco!!! Well, Loulou, too bad WE weren’t around or we would have taken care of that dish in no time flat! And the fruitcake for dessert. That’s a great idea to hide the medicine – no one will have a clue where it went – and I’ll never tell.

LOL – maybe it went to Paris to explode on the Champs Elysées! But what a horror for the anthros not to have hot water!! You and I could care less since we don’t get baths – at home anyway.

Our Jan LOVES fruitcake, especially with rum, but she hasn’t had one in many years now. Years ago she had a friend whose relative sent one every year and her friend HATED fruitcake, so she saved them in a cupboard. When she learned Jan loved them, Jan inherited 3 (?). Unfortunately, the relative died so there were no more fruitcakes coming. She doesn’t understand why so many don’t like such a tasty treat.

Ewwww! Tripe is disgusting unless it’s the mouse kind and then its just mouse a la take away, MOL
Mrs H loves fruit cake and says it should never be heavy, or over burdened with fruit. Of course she does me a special mini cake with nip in it, and that is delicious and never lasts long enough to get stuck in a cupboard.
