A Kitty in Winter

Well, this may not seem like a winter photo but it is.  This is my winter snuggle face.  I lie around and lament the wind and rain and papa comes over every time and snuggles me.

But this is our little town in winter. NO one is around.  Well, the bakery is open, thank heaven.  I get a little crumb or two from a croissant, but I prefer kibble puff pastry, haha.  Mama’s working on that.  I think.  Maybe not.  So here are some wintry scenes from our petite ville.

The shut down merry-go-round (carrousel, manège) is always a bit melancholy in this season.  No music and no laughing anthros spinning around.

And these three are the best fisherbirds of the town, or should I say, robbers.  They do a heck of a lot better than the anthro fisherpeople, and sometimes they steal anthros’ fish.  These are big, fat cormorants who dive under the water and swim for minutes and then surface with a fish in their pointy beaks. One almost never sees them perched on a rock like this.  They must have been having a pow wow about the best fishing areas, haha.  That is our lighthouse in the background so that ships don’t run aground, whatever that is.

The little houses are painted in nice subtle colors. This is a tiny square with a great tree!

image

A view from the other side of the little ville, protected by cannon! Non-functioning, I might add.  Tourists always take photos of their kids on the cannon.

image

Another of the many little winding streets with soft colors on the fishermens’ houses.

And the place where music is played on a bandstand in summer.

A painting by a local artist, in one of our gallery windows.  I picked THIS one out, as you can tell.

Our little playground for the kids.  And mama…

Well, back to MY idea of winter.

Don’t stop, papa.  DO NOT STOP!

Yes, there is a difference between summer and winter views since humans don’t seem prone to doing much outdoors in winter. Except scraping snow and ice off cars, shoveling drives and … Oh, those aren’t your problems, are they.

Oooooh, mama getting nostalgic, and missing those beautiful sights (and wonderful friends) in Collioure. The friends are what makes it special, especially in winter, when everything seems to close down, and socializing becomes more important; Which brings me to my favorite subject – FOOD!!!! Well, Loulou, you are one lucky kitty – all those cuddles, great food – and a fireplace for those cold days and nights. You chose the right family. And they found a FABU kitty. Win-Win.

Many thanks for posting these lovely pictures. Never before have I seen empty streets in Collioure. But of course, I have never been there in Winter.
Magnifique.

Collioure is so lovely in winter! So crisp and colorful and the streets all to oneself this time of year. Thanks, Loulou, for the tour of your town. Scratchies behind the ears to you and kibble puff paste to your heart’s content. I do love the painting you chose, too.
