Fearsome Fires

THESE FIRES ARE HORRENDOUS!

Well, mama’s sister in law who lives in Sonoma with Dan, her partner, have gone to stay with her daughter to avoid the terrible smoke in that part of California.  These fires are not contained and there is no end in sight as of now.  If only the winds would change!!! This is the worst fire tragedy in Califonia’s history.

And in the town of Sonoma, where mama’s sister lives, people not far away have already been evacuated.  We are praying they do not have to leave their condo.  What does one do?  Can things be saved?  Is there insurance for these things?  Or are they force majeure acts of God and uninsurable?  Oh, I hope not.  And think of the animals who are homeless, too, or missing.  Evidently many anthros are missing still….

We are all very troubled and worried here right now, being so far away and unable even to give shelter to anyone needing it.  Mama’s niece says that the new “homeless” are the victims of these horrendous fires, and many are sleeping on the beach as there is nowhere to go.  A Hilton hotel burned to the ground.  The footage is frightening.

I have to go get settled now that we are finally here but perhaps I can post names of places one can send aid to the California tragedy.

My trip is over. But I was a trooper in the long run.  Just no more long runs for me, I hope!  These fires are so, so much worse.  Unimaginable.

Another law of nature: Insurance *never* covers anything that actually damages a house.

We are all so glad to hear Barbara and Dan are SAFE from those fires!!! But so tragic, the loss of lives, and property. We weren’t that far from the fires in the south of France this summer, but don’t think anyone died. But the same thing – people lost their homes – and many campers and people who rented cottages, vacationing from the north had to head for the beach – and the chic beaches in St. Tropez and Cannes became camping grounds!! Not sure what the answer to these horrible disasters could be – but one is to stop denying climate change and be pro-active. Hey – I’m just a dawg, and it’s as clear to me as the kibbles in that glass jar on the counter top that I can’t reach.

BUT the good news is you made it home and now can relax and make mom & dad feel really bad so they give you even MORE love and hugs – if that’s even possible. Sending doggie smoochies!!!

I watched the video and it is TERRIFYING.
I feel for the people and animals caught in this inferno. Everything seems to be going wrong these days.
Very sad and frightening.

Glad you all arrived safely. Hope you have had some rest and are now enjoying your visit.

Watched the video and then one that was really scary. Never heard of a fire tornado before. If you want to watch – youtube.com/watch?v=_NPlswRgXwA

They are saying the winds have died down some today, helping firefighters get control of the fires around Sonoma & Napa Counties. The hotel you mentioned is in the city of Santa Rosa, and quite a bit of the city has been destroyed. I have friends in those areas too. Prayers for all of them.
