CAT-alan Confusion

Well, I am screaming about the fact that mama and papa were headed down to Barcelona to pick up their friends who had come a gazillion miles to visit with them and there they were, mama and papa that is, toodling down the autoroute when suddenly everything slowed to 30mph and they thought, Oh, there must be an accident up ahead or something and oh, no, it was no accident but a carefully planned strike of the truckers who were holding back the traffic between the border and Barcelona to protest the Madrid decision that it was illegal for the Catalonians to have a referendum about leaving Spain and having their own Catalonia.

Now, I do not wish to get into this–as papa says, strong-arming anyone never works out–and I do not wish to tell you MY views on all of this, but I was very sorry for mama and papa (who quickly jumped onto an off-ramp in hopes of turning around but ended up sitting there 1.5 hours behind stationary trucks and cars doing the same thing!) and sorry for their friends who had to find train tickets to get to where we live because they couldn’t be picked up (!) and sorry for the long way home that mama and papa ended up taking, arriving JUST in time to meet their friends’ train and drive them to our little abode.

FIE ON PROTEST STRIKES!!! And what do they get you anyway?

What a day!!! What a year!  Brexit, referendums, dissention everywhere, hurricanes, storms, terrible shootings and no gun control, a ruthless leader in North Korea, a who-knows-what-kind-of-anthro-in-office in the US, weird weather everywhere and too many sweet friends gone from their loving families…

Day after tomorrow, I’m only going to write about what GOOD happened this year, if I can find some things!!!

One really has to put one’s mind to waking up with positive thoughts and being aware of all the goodness in one’s life and just make a lively effort to be kind to others and help those you can and pray that this nutty world will right itself soon and give everyone a BREAK!

I’m takin’ mine now.

Well, at least you weren’t in the car and had to put up with that, Loulou.

The pingback is because the site is putting “original source” with a link to your blog in YOUR post they have scraped and put on their own site. Putting a link with “original source” is not fair use. it is stealing! There is no contact info on the site. I don’t know how to get around that but someone who reads your blog must know.

Loulou, when you draw up your GOOD list don’t get carried away and treat the election of Macron and the re-election of Merkel as positive events. They are definitely NOT. Thanks.

There would be too much to say. This blog is not the best of places for this. But permit me to point out that with Macron the poor will get poorer. In the process they will be copiously insulted by this presidential little shit.

Me TOO, Loulou – we cats & dogs know how to live and don’t make crazy demands and change the rules to benefit us. Oops, er, what did I just say!!?? Well, at least nothing that changes the world order – and my only BOMBS are poop on the sidewalk – which papa or mama whisk away toute de suite with an ever ready plastic sac (biodegradable, bien sur).

Those Catalans may think twice – businesses are already leaving Barcelona (CaixaBank being one) and moving their headquarters to Valencia or Alicante. oooohweeee – and those strikes will not help tourism. I won’t even touch on the tweeting moron or mama will have to take a couple of Advils with her coffee. BUT on a MUCH brighter note, can’t wait to see YOU in a couple of days!!! YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!

Loulou you know what? There was a full moon this week. They say that 4 days before a full moon and 4 days after (as well as DURING the full moon) craziness reigns supreme. This week has been living proof of that! xoxo

Oh, what a horrible thing to happen to your mama and papa – and to their friends! There must be hundreds, if not thousands of other stories from motorists being delayed and not getting to work or missing appointments – goodness, perhaps even missing a plane. So sorry the visit started off on such a note. Hope the visit is/was a great success despite such a bad beginning.

Oh, LouLou – what a mess ! At least it appears no one is getting physically hurt and your Mama & Papa and their friends met and everything turned out. We must all be grateful for small favors.

Until this happened I had not realized Barcelona was in the region that wanted to secede (?) from the rest of Spain. Do you suppose we could work that over here with D.C. ?
