Well, mama’s been cooking black-eyed peas and pancetta (bacon to southerners) and she’s planning chili-laced corn bread with real corn kernels in it and the guacamole was made in Rome and frozen (works like a charm—I licked her fingers when it was ready) and there will be Wild Turkey milk punch with nutmeg on top and for me, of course, a WHOLE smoked salmon (heh heh) that people can take little morsels of and put on a tiny cracker with caper butter:

1/2 pound soft butter mixed with 1 small jar of capers, drained really well, no liquid, until smooth and tasty

So that’s for New Year’s Day and I think about 20 people are coming but you never know—they could be pulling people off the street for all I know, but I know one thing—that new doggy, Mya, that mama and papa’s good friends have managed to acquire from somewhere (wherever doggies come from—under cabbages?) is NOT coming, and frankly, I’m a bit sorry because I never met her today when her mama and papa brought her over.  I think she looks like this:

In fact, I’m sure she looks like this because her mama sent my mama this picture and I have to say that if she were a kitty, she’d be pretty cute and really nice to play with…

BUT…she’s not.

Still, for the New Year, my resolution is to love all creatures, even doggies, and be more tolerant of those who cannot be a fascinating feline and so if they do happen to bring her, I’ll share my kibble with her.

Actually, she can have the kibble…I’m going for the smoked salmon.

Happy New Year to all races, colors, doggies, kitties out there. May your new year be full of rainbows.
