Say what is downstairs on the wall?

Well, mama was in seventh heaven this morning when she came downstairs (to let me OUT, but she STOPPED!) and found a praying mantis (whatever that is) on the wall of our dining room.  She ran to the fridge to get it some duck pâté she had made the day before, because years ago, when she and papa had his kids in the summer, there was a huge praying mantis on the wall inside the rental house and the kids were frightened and mama said, “No, no don’t ever be frightened of a mantis; the Chinese keep them as pets and they love hamburger and raw meat because they eat insects,” and of course off she went to get the kids to feed the mantis hamburger, which it (hard to sex a praying mantis, whatever that means) ate immediately and the beautiful mantis stayed around all summer, begging for tidbits.  The kids took turns putting it on their shoulders.

So, that said, this is what mama found on Google about having a visit from a mantis:

An appearance from the mantis is a message to be still, go within, meditate, get quiet and reach a place of calm.

Well, we could certainly us that around here every now and then.  So mama went off to the market, calm and cool and took some pics of our sweet little city that has many charming details such as the ceramic downspouts for rain:

You think they are about to call out something to you when you pass them.  Hey, this one matches the mantis!

And a little park for kids from which they can watch the sea.

And sometimes a ride in a latine-rigged Catalan boat.

And a wind-blown lavender plant that still smells just as sweet as the manicured ones.

Well, those are a few calming moments from mama’s walk.

And that bad mantid did NOT eat the pate!!! He wanted raw hamburger!

Pâté is a bit rich for me.

Sheesh–I hope mama doesn’t see that mantid around for awhile and finds another mouth for the meat, haha!

Yes, yes, over here with that tartare.  For me, with the green eyes!
