(No, it’s not me, honey–I’m just Loulou’s cool friend in Vancouver, Binky by name…)

Well, there’s a new kid on the block. That is, in the trees of Ecuador, not here on our French street, but I’m hoping he or she will come visit. Make that a she—I’m not sure I can handle the he, he is so, so cute.

Evidently there was one of these brand new discoveries right in the National Zoo in Washington, except no one knew it was an onlinguito (o-lin-ghee-to) instead of an olingo! Poor little thing—they tried to get her to mate and she would have none of it. And who knows better than an olinguito just what turns an olinguito ON?

Wrong species!

“How is it different? In almost every way that you can look at it,” Kristofer Helgen said, the Smithsonian curator of mammals.

“Olinguitos are smaller, have shorter tails, a rounder face, tinier ears and darker bushier fur,” he said.

“It looks kind of like a fuzzball … kind of like a cross between a teddy bear and a house cat,” Helgen said.

Hey, wait a minute, Mr. Helgen—just what kind of ‘house cat’ do you mean?. If that little creature had been the product of a bear getting his paws on me, Loulou, that kittyguito would be even cuter than he is.

Fugeddaboutit! When you start thinking about a little kitty and a bear (a grizzly thought!), you don’t want to go there…Thank heaven I’m fixed. Many can bear witness to that,   haha.

Heh, heh, heh, a cute KITTY!
