I’m looking for the website of the poem below and I think I have found it.

Well, not too long ago, our country was given a gift from La France, and if you go to this website I finally found you will see the history of that spectacular statue that welcomes all who come across the oceans to enjoy the freedom of living in the United States of America.  Mama read me this poem this morning after having seen it on the website Chocolate and Zucchini, authored by Clotilde Dousoulier, a great site for French news on Paris and other cities and wonderful tips for cooking and travel.  Mama was in tears reading this.

The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
MOTHER OF EXILES. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!

Oh, would that we could lift that lamp as we did for so many years.

I have to get mama a hankie, sorry to leave you.
