Well, how do we get to where we are is a good question. I got to where I am through sheer kitty luck because I was bound for the wilds and if I look feral to you, you’d better check your prescription. I hung our with those cats for awhile, but that’s not my idea of fun, scrounging or begging for food from complete strangers, trying to keep myself in one piece with all those hostile kitties out there, and whoever those people were who dumped me (they do that after a summer’s lease!), at least they took relatively good care of me.  Except for my teeth…

But enough of my story, how did YOU get to where YOU are? I’d love to know, so if you have time, leave a comment.

Mama, for example, took her first trip to Europe when she was 18 and felt she had finally found her home. And that was Copenhagen!!! Well, the plane landed there, but she felt immediately bonded with Europe and the people and the food and told herself, I shall return one day, who knows when?  Then she discovered Paris…

So time goes by, mama leaves Texas for Berkeley, embraces the late 60s and 70s and meets musicians and hangs out at folk music clubs and paints and has a house that can accommodate several and so becomes a kind of earth mom for sometimes struggling, sometimes not, artists and musicians, and then she actually gets back to Europe with a friend and they tear up the little town of Viareggio for a year or so and then she comes back and paints some more and lives in Santa Barbara and then in Los Angeles and after several other complicated and soon to be a minor motion picture adventures, meets papa and finds her life mate with a love of Italy equal to hers and then they are together (other kitties in this period but I’m not giving them the time of day) and then she draws lots of pictures for magazines and newspapers and such and papa writes and produces scripts and then they change both things and mama makes focaccia and people like it and they leave their other activities and make a business together out of the blue and then they spend more time in Italy and then France and then Texas and sometimes Arkansas and then France again and who can say, who can even imagine the hundreds of tiny happenings along the way that brought them both to where we are today and of course, somewhere in there, I showed up.

Well, at that point, their lives were complete, right?
