Hey, we kitties know what’s under there…

Well, mama is not entirely sure (about the referendum, that is) and has Scottish friends who say yes and some who say no, but it seems to me that if Scotland secedes from the UK, there might be hell to pay.  Bankers are worried, the UK is worried, Europe is worried, the Catalans are thrilled, hoping it will happen so that they will have more power for their cause against government in Madrid, but I think it just might be like pulling a loose string of yarn on a sweater, if you get my simile.  Goodness knows kitties are fully aware of what THAT does…one minute, a slightly damaged sweater and the next, a ball of yarn.  And a hot mama to boot!!!

Not that I’VE ever done anything like that, but it was considered…

Mama met a couple from Scotland the other night and it was pretty clear that they would vote no, but then again, that very day she also met an Englishman, sitting on a bench with his little grandson waiting for his mama, and the grandfather, a very elegant, distinguished, clearly educated and savvy gentleman, said, “Well I hope they DO break off.  We’ve warred with Scotsman all through history and used up their natural resources and taken advantage of so many things their country has to offer–I hope they get their independence and save some of what is left of their oil.”

But mama always wonders about what will happen when so many people are used to living in a certain way and they are suddenly asked to change practically overnight.  Not easy with anthros.  Kitties adjust, but those others….hmmmm.

(A man with a concise and very interesting opinion on the Scottish question.)

Well, mama was amazed because she hadn’t yet met an Englishman who felt that way, but mama thinks that maybe with the threat of breaking ties with the UK, the UK will offer up some compromises that might help both countries work together.  Mama thinks that if Scotland can leave, then the UK can leave the EU and that does not make for a united Europe when unity is most needed, it seems.

More on this later.  Mama is doing some reading on all of this and I’m sure she’ll be clearer on what’s going on after that.

I think she hopes that Scotland doesn’t fling England away.

And mama and papa certainly wouldn’t want to see the prices of the best scotch in the world go up!

I sort of hoped mama and papa would visit Scotland another time and bring me a little kitty kilt…Black Watch, I think, to go with my fur, or maybe, for contrast, Royal Stewart, or maybe there is a tartan just for kitties…

Cat-edonian, or Cat-erbury.  I’m sure there’s one out there.

Well, I wouldn’t go quite THAT far…
