And their cookies are WONDERFUL! Even I got a little taste..

Now I know this is a silly subject, but mama was a Girl Scout and is so happy that they taught her things like lashing twigs together to make picture frames (!) and how to put a slice of white, soft bread on a stick and then dip it in condensed milk and then roll it in coconut an toast it over a fire or how to melt marshmallows on a stick (after having whittled it to a point) and then put them all gooey and nice and slightly burned on top of 4 squares of Hershey bar on top of a graham cracker and make a S’more (because you always want some more, duh) but what she’s really tickled to know is how to make the fire itself!

According to Girl Scout methods (and also her daddy and brother), you have to have 1. tinder and then 2. kindling and then 3.fuel.

That’s how to make a really good fire.  Start with little twigs (here in our ville, the grandson of a dear friend gathers dry wood on her property and puts it in Ikea bags and we add to his teen-age coffer by paying for each bag.  It’s a great deal, I have to say or otherwise they’d have ME out there picking up sticks with my little muzzle!

Then papa gets bags of small, cut up wood for the kindling, and then a truck comes with a nice man and his wife and we all stack the fuel part in our wood bins and in the garage.  Now we’re set for winter and for me having a perfectly lovely place to stretch out by a cozy fire and do what I do best.  Entertain the folks with my charm and cute-itude and snooze the winter away.

That’s all, folks. Your pin is on the way…
