(That little doggie ain’t as cute as I am!)

Well, mama finally sent me an email just as I was getting back to the computer after I had conquered my semi-miffed state into which they threw me as they walked out the door to take a plane to the Lone Star State, wherever that is.

I know it has something to do with where mama was born and grew up and has roots, and I know she never had a kitty there so that’s some consolation, but she says that the town she’s in now is really a good place for a kitty because even the dogs are well-behaved and everyone is so civil. It’s little ville called Austin and people wear boots and hats and tie-dyed tee shirts and some of the men have long (grey!) pony tails leftover from the 60s, whenever that was. But she says everyone is so, so nice and there is music everywhere at night seeping out from doors along South Congress Avenue and everyone is out on the summer streets talking and grooving and sitting in open cafes with mojitos, whatever they are.

But for three days, I couldn’t write a word!!! It’s not like those anthros to up and run off, even if it is to see mama’s brother and sister-in-law and nephew and cousins all over the place and frankly, I was a bit put out, even if they did call in the sweetest kitty-lady in the world (well…aside from you know who; sometimes…) and so I’m sorry if I let my readers down, but now my energy is up again after some yoga and reflection on the fact that I am NOT the center of the universe, at least not for awhile.

And if you’re reading this—mama and papa, you turncoats, deserters, abandoners-of-Loulou—all I have to say to you two is, “Yee haw, and y’all come back now, y’hear?”
