OH, NO.  I haven’t even made a shopping list for Christmas!!!  Oh, well, I hope THEY have…

Well, boy, that Jeanie is getting famous.  The comments on her deco were really lovely, thank you, and now mama and I are staring at our (very, very small) box of trinkets for our (non-existent, so far, maybe still growing somewhere) little tree, which WILL arrive one day when mama finds it.  This is usually around, oh, December 20, maybe a bit earlier so I can sit under the nice warm lights and dream of sugarplums, whatever they are.

Our box of ornaments–angels and bells. Oh, and a little felt mouse hidden somewhere in there.

But this year will be SOOOOO simple.  We have Christmas Eve with papa’s ex-wife, whom mama adores, and she will make a broth and we’ll eat tortellini and mama will make some appetizers and some little lemon tarts and that’s IT.

Free-form lemon tarts

No roast capons or beef or chickens or hams–this Italian family has pretty much gone the route of less meat, more vegetables, and tortellini don’t have much in them but ricotta and spinach and everyone is really happy NOT to work so hard for eight people.  The night, called La Vigilia (the wait for the birth of Christ) is more important than the food and just being together is such a gift.

Yes, I think that, too.

But the small anthros (and mama!) LOVE the game played that night: tombola–a kind of Italian bingo.  The little anthros have chosen inexpensive prizes for the winners and the big anthro mama (mama’s step-daughter-in-law) has chosen to start of our holiday cheer by making margaritas to go along with the game!

Well, ours will be light green but what the heck.  FastDrinkRecipes.com did a bang-up job with pomegranates.

No booze for me, thank you.  I’m on the nip wagon still.

Love and hugs to Sammy’s family.  We are thinking of you.
