Well, at least THEY send me news of THEIR adventures, sort of. If you can consider unusual origins of everyday items earthshaking news for yours truly, abandoned and forgotten here with Sue, THE MAGNIFICENT ( hear that, mama?).

But do you really know where catsup came from?

Get this: the Chinese word, ki-tsiap, a fermented fish sauce brought home by Dutch and English sailors.  Mushroom catsup without any tomatoes is still found in England.

The book (found on a coffee table at a b and b) is called An Uncommon History of Common Things, which I am ordering TODAY because I expect to be in the next edition.

So COMMON to leave an UNCOMMON kitty at home…What’s the origin of THAT, I ask you?
