Well, as I have mentioned before, adaptation and flexibility are mama’s favorite words, especially now that she is…er…shall we say…not 40 any longer.

So when several family members arrived bearing virtual vegetarian banners (well, not literally, but they do have good reasons for their change), mama delved into her stash of recipes and came up with LOTS of things without meat.

Maybe everyone actually feels better after this week of vegetables and pasta and fruit. Well, everyone had better feel better after PASTA, the backbone of life on this earth as we know it!

And even I had a little taste of some of those nice salads and soups and such that mama put out on the table. I can’t say that gazpacho is my absolute favorite thing to eat, but those little shrimp in the salad drove me nuts.

So during the kiddoe’s and friends’ visit, there is always one or two nights that mama and papa just stay home alone and do their thing and when the last one rolled around, I just had to laugh.

On the outside table (in plain view, of course, but OUT of my reach) next to the barbeque, was a very thick sirloin strip, whatever that is, and it was about to be consumed by the main carnivore in our household.  One guess who that is.

So I guess some of us haven’t crossed over yet, but for me, the night was heavenly without spaghetti al pesto or Indian curry in my dish again!

Curry with condiments–would a kitty eat THIS? No way, Jose.

Mama gave me all of her tidbits and moved on to the bruschetta with her cherry tomatoes and her basil and olive oil from Umbria.

YES, Loulou, there is a Santa Claws!

PS: I did not drink all of that martini…
